Funky Tach

Since replacing the intake vacuum lines my tachometer hasn't been working properly. While in drive the tachometer won't go above 2k rpm. Mechanically, the car seems fine. While in Drive, shifts are as expected and the speedometer works as it should.

When in park the tachometer operates as it should, however in drive is when i have an issue.

Any thoughts?

Re: Funky Tach

Bump...

Additional observation:

When the car is in Park the tachometer works, goes all the way up to 5k. It could go higher obviously, but I am just troubleshooting.

The crank position sensor doesn't appear to be faulty as I am not receiving a check engine light.

The ground on the passenger rear side of the collector is securely fastened.

Lastly, although the negative battery terminal is as securely fastened as possible, it can still be removed with enough back and forth twisting. There isn't any corrosion on the terminal or connections however.

Working in park but not in drive that is strange, you said this happened after replacing vacuum lines? under the manifold? could you have forgot a ground on the wire harness?
