Time for a water pump?
My car was overheating this week after driving at highway speeds then slowing down into town. I looked for leaks last night and found the only place where coolant is showing is towards the front of the oil pan, which from searching the forum indicates a possible water pump leak. I ran the engine to temp with the radiator cap off to make sure coolant was flowing and found just a small amount of coolant showing so i filled the radiator and let it run. Then filled the reservoir and it runs fine today. However, I'm sure it will happen again due to the invisible leak so a water pump replacement will probably be in order soon. Looking through the threads I believe I have gathered all of the parts I will/may need for the job as well as those that will be beneficial to tackle while I'm in there, but I would like an expert on the subject to sign off before I put in the horrendous order. If there are any of these I will not likely need also please let me know because my funds are limited at the moment.

Also, I do not have another vehicle I can drive at this time and have a good bit of driving I will need to do in the next couple of weeks. As long as I keep an eye on coolant levels and add as needed do I need to be worried? I appreciate any insight any of you can give! Thanks, Patrick

Re: Time for a water pump?
How many miles are on your SVX?
the water pump should be replaced when you replace the timing belt, but many don't. There are timing belt / water pump kits on ebay that have all the components you need, for a lot less than OEM, if you're not set on OEM

Re: Time for a water pump?
196k+ miles. I would be fine with using a kit if people have had good experience with them.

Re: Time for a water pump?
I believe Nate and some others recommend going with an OEM water pump. The ebay timing belt kits themselves are fine otherwise.
