idle trouble after deep puddle pass
Well, there was a deep puddle on the road which i passed at low speed..
SVX coughed for 2 minutes, then it died, but after immediate start i was not able to raise rpms over 3000 for next 15 minutes. Then the power came back to the car. Next day i replaced with new air filter which was looked like dirty deformed sponge.. Now i have the following problems: -No warming idle after cold start. It idle constantly at 1100rpm -High idle. 900rpm at 1,2,3,D 1100rpm on P -The car driven as usual, no engine power loss Thanks for help

what would cause the idle to still be high (1500 rpms) even after car is fully warmed up. No Codes, TPS set to 0.48 volts, 800 rpms idle on select monitor. This occurs randomly, not every time, but more often than not. Also several times the idle went up on its own in park with no one in the car. From 750-800 rpms to 1100rpms. Its the weirdest thing. This has been occuring for the past 1000 miles at least, but no codes, and car runs strong as a bull. All new plugs, coils, vacuum hoses, knock sensors, just about the whole kitchen sink replaced.

The idle control valve under the throttle body can also randomly do this. If you have it off its easy to clean. Just mark the position of the motor on the end, take it off, spray in the chamber with some non-chlorinated brake cleaner, and rotate the shaft back and forth a few times, and dump brake cleaner out. When you put the motor back on, the valve should snap back into the correct position, and install the motor in the same position it came off in(should have marked it earlier, or you can see where the washers were).

I doubt its the coolant temp sensor. I replaced it last year, and that was only 2000 miles ago I also replaced the IACV with a supposedly good one I bought on Fleabay. No codes in system, but I was getting codes for IACV before OT did all the work to my engine. I just want this idle issue fixed so I can enjoy the whole car like I should. For example, today I drove 35 miles from startup to work. Stopped at DD for coffee, its idling 1200 in park. Shut off for 3 minutes while I was inside the DD, came out started and now its idling perfect at 750-800. This happens quite frequently where you have to shut the car off for a few minutes and then restart to get a perfect idle.

No codes, but downshifted too easily and held gears too long. I had adjusted the voltage at idle, but had a dead spot. New TPS cured problem in both 92s.

Pick up some CRC Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner. Should be able to get it ant Advance Auto, Auto Zone, or Amazon.com.
Spray 10 to 15 spurts of the cleaner onto the wire or plate. Don't scrub the parts; you may break the wire or damage the plate. Allow the MAF sensor to dry completely before reinstalling it in the air duct. .

Key properties for any MAF sensor cleaner would be "Leaves no residue" and "safe for plastics"
WD40 would not be acceptable, in that it leaves a residue.
