Re: Change a PVC
Look at my thread "alternative option to replace PCV" OR look in the How-To documents under "maintenance" and there is a .pdf file of changing PCV valve.

Re: Change a PVC
Yea PCV (been working in Lowe's plumbing dept tooooo long . ) I never removed a throttle body so maybe that would be more of a challenge than I want to attempt. the car is using about 1 qt of oil in 1,000 miles and someone told me it could be the Positive Crankcase Ventilator . What would a dealer charge to do it ? no smoke no smell and the engine does have a very slight valve cover gasket leak . should I even worry about it?
Just thinking ::: Has anyone ever considered relocating this thing. I mean a fitting a piece of hose and you would not have to do this again. Technically the PCV could be put in the glove box <LOL> Last edited by Conn SVX; 06-17-2011 at 06:30 AM. |

Re: Change a PVC
Can be done without removing the throttle body...several of us have made a "Crows foot" wrench to get it out from the top, but even then it is tough getting the hose loose, and back on

Re: Change a PVC
I was able to pull the hose by reaching under the manifold between the runner and the throttle body on the driver's side. It's tight, but it can be done!

Re: Change a PVC
I struggled with the crow's foot and the other small vaccuum hose that snakes out of the top....barely any room to turn it, but yes it can be done with a crow's foot.
I recommend you work on this just a few hours after the engine is off so the hose and intake is still warm. It's easier to get a warm hose off the valve than it is with a cold stiff hose. |
