'97 tranny

what exactly did Subaru do for the later cars as far as transmission "adjustments"? did they enlarge the small, easily-clogged passages? i will still probably go with an external cooler and filter anyway to relieve my paranoia. kinda ridiculous that their supposed flagship GT has a faulty transmission, weak brakes, and wheel bearings that wear out if you do some spirited driving.

I don't think Subaru thinks the SVX as the lagship. The flagship GT would be the blitzen and the workhorse would be the WRX.

SVX was their bastard child that they forgot.

Just my thought on that subject.

The Outback VDC is getting pretty far up there in price ($33k+) and is considered their flagship model at the moment. The WRX is the premium performance car obviously. (Talking about US only of course)

Supposedly they rectified the cooler design in the radiator in '94. Previous models had a tight bend at their inlet that was prone to clogging when the torque convertor clutch fragged and sent pieces of friction material downstream. They also added a fifth clutch plate to the SVX version of the transmission without allowing for additional lubrication so that was also updated.

For better and more accurate info go through the 'links' section above, I know there's a site or two that has all of the info.
