Your county's water and sewer.

How often do you guys have trouble with your county's water and sewer mixing with each other.

This past weekend something busted and apparently a restriction was issued for tap water:

boiling it for 30 minutes before use.

how often does this happen in your necks of the woods?

(i hear these types of warnings 4-5 times a year...maybe more)

In Cumberland County PA, it varies with what system you have...as it does with most of PA.

Because a lot of us are rural, the county hasn't done sewer to every road in the county. Therefore, a lot of us have a well and a sandbox/drainfield to take care of water coming in and going out.

Some people have a mixed system; half well and half city sewer. So, think city sewage with your own water.

And then you have just regular old city water; it's their water coming in and it's their water going out.

How often do the city guys get boil advisories? Once...twice a year maybe. If we got a lot of rain really fast and it floods, there are almost guaranteed to be boil advisories.

You mean our county lied when they said they were giving us free chocolate milk and lemonade? Thought it was a bit off.

Harry, I read about that in the AJC and am still trying to imagine out how a pressure drop on the fresh supply could allow sewage into the system. Dekalb County, man. Think I'd boil my water all the time.

Doesn't happen here and our pipes burst all the damn time. Chances are you can go out on any random day and some crew will be diggin up pipes in the middle of the road.
Happened right in front of my house a couple months ago.
No funny water.
