Pretty much everything about their cars make ours look good. I had a 94 Talon and within one year I had to replace the calipers and rotors, the ENGINE, and when the tranny blew up I sold the piece of crap. It was a non-turbo automatic and I never really even drove it that hard.

What about the original DSM: Conquest/Starion? I always really liked the Conquest since the first time I saw one... gotta be black, though.

I liked em in black and white... but SILVER was the color of the best one I ever saw. I really wanted one back in highschool, but I grew out of it.

I worked with this awesomely hot blonde who drove a bright yellow Conquest TSi. I don't recall what I liked more, her or the car. No, it was her.

That is understandable if the Conquest was yellow... that is just... not right. If it was a nice shiny black... then it could be a tough call.

Anybody know what the trim levels were on the Conquest? The really nice one I saw was a TSi as well, but I was like, "this isn't a Talon or Vision... what the heck."

Oddly, I have a thing for a few '80's cars which includes the G-body GM's... like an '87 Monte SS, but the '87 GN is on the top of my list FTW!&$@^!!! Yes, I DO realize most '80's cars suck BAD.

Woah, woah woah.....

First of all, complaining about a DSM because you had a NON TURBO AUTO.... That's like saying that Subarus suck because I drove a Brat and it had no horsepower. Everyone knows they were pieces of crap, and had sticker prices at less than 1/3 of the SVXes.

DSMs are cheap speed. They're also built pretty well, and the only problems that I know of with the trannies are that retards think they are drag racing vehicles and drop the clutch at 5K rpm and 100hp over stock and think that the transmissions are horrible when they break. Same reason people get pissed at the WRX trans.

The strangest thing about DSMs is that most of the people who have turbo/awdturbo cars put all their money into go fast parts. The ones that have the chrysler NA motors put all their money into rediculous bodykits...etc.

Oh, and just if you were wondering, the 94 n/t auto = NA mitsu motor, Chrysler trans and chrysler brakes. The turbos and AWDs are all mitsu parts. There are people that have pushed the STOCK 4g63 into 600hp range. Name another engine that can without any modification to the longblock, can TRIPLE its horsepower and run somewhat reliably. Give credit where credit is due.

I'd throw out the Porsche 3.6L flat 6 that Gemballa tunes to over 850hp. But comparing Porsche's to DSM is apples to oranges in any light.

My '89 Taurus SHO kicked some serious butt! Yamaha designed heads and intake. I'd like to get an intake manifold from one of them and put it under glass for a coffee table.

... I searched and here is what they replace. (and this is just for the 500hp version)

Modification to 3.6L
Reinforced Engine Block
Forged 3.6L TURBO Pistons
Crankshaft 3.6L
Piston Rods Reinforced 3.6L
Piston Bolts Reinforced
TURBO Cylinderhead Modification
Special Camshafts
Alloy inlet Manifold
Special TURBO Airinlet Pipes
Reinforced TURBO Pressure Pipes
TURBO Headers
GEMBALLA K16 TURBO Chargers

and the engine started off with more than 280hp.... sooo how does that have any effect on my claim of another engine that in its STOCK form (longblock) can triple its horsepower?

I'm NOT saying that DSMs are perfect cars. I'm saying that the 4g63 is a very impressive motor, and that the amount of power you can get them to make is rediculous. They = cheap speed. YOu know that saying in the automotive world: Cheap, Fast, Reliable... pick two. Well, DSMs are cheap, and fast... and if you work at it... they'll maybe make it to "halfway" reliable.

The 86-88 951's (cars I know you know alot about Greg) were 217 crank hp stock (88 S and all 89's were 250 crank hp). I have seen on Rennlist cars getting 363 to the rear wheels on stock internals. That's pretty close. But like I said, I give the 4G63 credit, the 88 Turbo S cost over $60,000 in 1988 when a V-8 Z-28 cost $14,000.
