Directv or Dish Network what do you prefer?

I currently have Directv and my bill creeps up a few dollars every 6-9 months.
What do you prefer? Im leaning towards Dish Network because my local phone company has a phone/internet/satellite combo and from what package I would be saving 20-30$ month. Give some opinions on both Thanks

I've got that deal with verizon... but it is directTV.

I was nervous about it because I had dish network and hated it, but I also didn't want comcast cable which was the alternative. So I gave Direct a shot and I love it. I would never want to go to a different service. Crystal clear chanels, and it only goes out in the worst weather. Much better experience with DTV than the rest. including dish

Go for the Dish

Hi everyone, I've had Dish since 1997 and it has only gotten better over the years. They also have every month either a "Charlie Chat" or a "Tech Chat" which keeps you up to date with the service. They are in the process of changing over to MPEG IV which will take a few years for existing subscribers but new subscribers can start right out with it. Look in your local telephone book or go to www.dishnetwork.com and take a look around. Take care, BOBB

+1 for DirecTV

I've had it for eight years. I live in the Pacific North West and have only had 'rain fade' on a few occasions when the rain was so heavy I couldn't see ten feet out my windows!

I recently upgraded to HD/Tivo with a terrabyte of hard drive space. It works great with the new 51" Plasma that my wife made me buy for Christmas . . .

another completely satisfied directv subscriber here. i believe we've only had one minor price increase in almost five years. and only two minor outages: a 4.5 feet snow accumulation and 3 feet pile-up. both problems were fixed by going out side and knocking snow off the dish.

damn, how much was that?

the 250Gb HD TIVO's are around $399 now, and i was thinking about it, but with the upcoming switch to MPEG-4, i didn't want to have a $400 paperweight. it may be a year or more away (???), but i can wait i guess.

I have a friend that swears by DirectTV. You'd think he worked for them. He claims it's perfection.

I'm Cox digital cable with PVR. I personally don't know anything about either DirectTV or Dish first hand.

What upgrade to MPEG-4? Inform the uneducated. Is this an industry switch or one service?

I had one of those thingies about 40 feet up in the air. I got fuzzy pictures on two channels.

I choose to live outside of town where that free signal doesn't reach so I have to pay for my television viewing.

That's one of my trade-offs for a 2,300 sq. ft. home on 16 mostly wooded acres that I paid $198,000 for eight years ago . . .

Dan
