how to deal with clear coat issues??
Hi,
Is there any way to get around with the oxidation issues of the paint due to clear coat issues?? Can we actually remove or scrub off the oxidation region and get back the original paint? thanks, -Pavan. |

You're only supposed to sand it down down a little bit right? So there's still some clearcoat left..? I mean wouldn't it rust if you scrub down to the paint?

Danny is right, adding a little dish soap to your water will help the sanded off material float away easier. Use a good sanding block and take your time. You only want to sand off the clearcoat and not sand down into the base color coat (you'll only get rust if you sand down to bare metal).

But if the rust is deep, you should go all the way Pav, till you reach the bare metal... or else it won't be any good.

The rusting is generated from the metal below the Bondo/Paint/Lacquer. You must go all the way
