electrical mess - new owner

Just bought a '92 LS-L, 2 questions so far

No A/C, so I check under the hood and the compressor is not turning. I look in the fuse box and the relay is missing. I look in relay socket, and the connectors for the relay to fit into are missing too.

I haven't tried to pull box out to see where wires/connectors went yet.

Any cautions?

Security light comes on when button pressed, but stays lit solid. Can't enter programming mode described in archives. Doors won't lock/unlock via key fob, but lock/unlock with key or by pushing knob in door. tried new radio shack battery in both fobs, no luck. Ideas?

You may have a bad security module.

hope this helps

Lee, no ideas on the remote entry/security stuff, as I am also a new owner and have a remote entry
transmitter on order, but as for the AC, there are lots of things to go wrong. I have a wiring diagram (thru alldatadiy.com and here's the easy things to check. (from a '94, so may be different?)

1 source of power is thru the fusible link in the
main box. Ignition switch has to be in right position too. This then goes to 2 25 amp fuses, also in the main box. These are right next to the 4 fan relays (in A/C relay holder 1). (i'm wondering if you thought another relay went in where these 2 fuses should be??) There is also an A/C relay holder 2, that has 2 relays and a 10 amp A/C fuse, (located right next to the AWD "missing" one). A/C also uses fuse 25, also 10 amps in the main box. In the interior fusebox, it uses F3 (20A) and F15 (10A) as well as F20 and 21 (both 15A). Pretty well protected huh? Lets hope it's
one of these. Otherwise there are all kinds of
sensors and control units involved too. Let me know if you want me to Email copies of this stuff
to you. I haven't figured out using a locker yet.

security fuses to check

As long as I was there, here's what the electrical diagrams show related to the security system; interior fuse 18(10A) and Main box fuse 23 (20A). Other than those, you have the switch, Security module, and connections to shoulder belt, door lock, MPFI, trunk light, horn/cigarette lighter and lighting systems.

clarification

the relay I think I'm missing is labeled relay 7, A/C Comp, on the cover of the underhood fuse box.

I haven't even tried debigging the security module yet, thanks for the advice.
