Wiper switch

I got my car about 18 months ago and the slow speed wiper position was not working. The blades would shut off when the arm was put into that position. Now yesterday it started to work Somehow it fixed its' self. It is the first time I have ever seen anything in car do that. No big deal if it should quit. I will just go back to running the wipers on the fast intermittent setting.

My cavalier is like that... things constantly break and fix themselves. The car virtually regenerates when it breaks... Gotta love '80s GM.

Significant Technical Input
Most switchgear in cars are self-cleaning. Each time the switch is used it wipes the contacts. It could be that you finally rotated it enough times to clean it or there's a poor connection that just happens to be o.k. for now.

I had a similar thing with my automatic seat belts, sometimes they wouldn't move forward when I opened the door to get out. Eventually it fixed itself and I never had the problem again.
