Question Steering Rack question(s)

I'm an XT6 fanatic and have rebuilt my XT6's steering rack.
However, a friend's SVX has recently started leaking PS fluid from their steering rack; the dealer wants to replace it for lots and lots of $$$$. I offered to rebuild it and ordered the kits from the dealer to rework the rack. However, I registered today (thanks HUCK for teh link) and was reading a few posts: some of you bought new/rebuilt racks.
Where did you guys find the rack? I've looked on-line at various places, they all say to call in for a quote.
Please post recomendations for sourcing new/rebuilt steering rack, also include your cost.

Thanks a bunch.....

I replaced mine with a rebuilt unit from Advanced Auto, it was $250.00
I don't have the part number, but the LS-Tour/LSi use one rack, and the L/Ls use a different rack, so be sure to order the correct one. (The LS-Tour/ LSi have leather seats)

Great Radon! Now you got me thinking. Wonder how hard it would be to adapt a 6 ps unit into the SVX.

XT Rack

One of these times, if I ever get back to some stuff I have in storage, I will have an 86 XT steering rack and power steering pump for sale. Both were fine except for some minor leakage at the tank O Ring on the pump. They were on an 86 GL10 Turbo XT. Price will be reasonable when I get around to it.

The rack I'd want is the electric one off the 6. Delete the pulley from robbing more power. Then I can figure out a way to keep the battery charged without an alternator too.
