Chike the exhaust system looks great. Two thumbs way up!!!

Do you think that it is helping improve the fuel milage on your car? Did you leave the heatshield out, the one between the drive shaft and exhaust, on purpose of a misstake?

This question is for you (and Tom and for anyone else to give their opinion on)

What could I expect if I did the exact same setup as yours (remove the pre-cats and run the pipes into the magnaflow high-flow cat.

THEN

Run a short length of 2.5" pipe out of the cat into a Magnaflow resonator (see attachment) which would replace the stock SVX resonator. From there, continue back to the stock muffler and tips. Any forseeable problems or undesirable exhaust notes? Are Dayle's resonators different from these?
Just a little note for you all in Maryland. Do not throw away your cats. If you sell the car, I hope not, it should not pass inspection with out cats. I.E. it is concidered an altered exhaust. Maryland stupid laws says that is a no no.

Not sure Steve. My O2 sensors are about a year old, and must be still working perfectly. I do have the Impreza fpr, but obviously my ecu has compensated for the extra fuel in closed-loop operation.

Hey, my car should still pass inspection as the 2-into-1 cat from Magnaflow is EPA certified and OBDII compliant up to an engine size of 6.0L.

I was planning on removing the precats and replacing the main cat with the same magnaflow one that Chike has, but the exhaust shop said that the precats were two-ways, and that they were needed so that the 3-way main cat could do its job. Anyone know if this is true? I still wonder if I could remove the precats and still pass DEQ.

Never heard of anything like that. I've looked at the interior of the precats and the primary cat, and they are both typical rectangular mesh ceramic substrate cats (just like the Magnaflow/Carsound aftermarket cats). Shouldn't be any reason why you can't dump all three of the original cats and replace with a single cat.

A 2-way precats, a 3-way main cat, sounds like a 1-way rip off.

Chike,
Any concern about the proximity of your exhaust pipe to the left side CV joint? Some shielding may be in order (wrap?), other than that minor concern I think that's what I'll do with my system. Looks light and effecient. V. nice. Did I miss the brand, part# and cost of the 2 into 1 cat?

You're talking about the rear left cv joint correct? If so, no concerns whatsoever as I installed that rear part of my exhaust since Xmas with no issues! However, I did order some 1,200* insulating header paint which I'll use to coat my exhaust pipes this weekend.

In the starting post of this thread I mentioned:

The people at performance peddler are the greatest. Mention the SVX network and you'll get the same discount I did!
