Fuel Economy

I can't believe the difference in fuel economy of my SVX between city driving versus the highway.

By my calculations, pure city cycle yields about 8klm per litre of petrol where sitting on 120klm/hr on the highway with cruise control on yields about 14klm/hr!

That's better than my 97 Liberty RX wagon ('legacy' in US)

I knew there would be a more significant difference with a 3.3 litre 6 cylinder, but that's almost 100%!!!

Anyone else get similar figures?

Cheers,
Pete

I have recorded my gas mileage at almost every fillup for 50k miles now. I always use 92 octane or better. I average 22mpg with mixed city / highway driving, Highest is 27 on the highway but usually 25-26mpg with summer gas. Lowest at 19 with the oxygenated winter gas and city driving. Highest highway mileage with oxygenated gas has been 24mpg

By the way - 93 octane gas is now 96 cents a gallon in marietta, south carolina!!!

I get an average of 20 mpg mixed city, 26 mpg Highway -- and that's with an engine with almost 170K on it. I think I should be pleased.

Re: Fuel Economy

o'course, premium gas!

i've got about 12mpg on purely city driving!
i've got about 20mpg on highway driving! (>90mph)
30% city & 70%highway mixed i got 16-17mpg.

i was thinking if my SVX is normal.
after i talked one of SVXers in town, ha, he got the
same mileage as mine in town. 12mpg! but a FWD '94.
i will talk to more SVXers in town, if there's the chance, and
to gain more confidence my mpg is normal.

for highway mileage, i think the mpg is really depended on your speed.

$1.58 for premium which is the cheapest i've seen in a long time.

I seem to get about 14mpg in the city (I have to idle my car alot to warm it up each morning. and about 25 mpg on the highway.

I let my car warm up for a few morning every morning as well. However 20 mpg seems awfully high. I am getting 16-17 on average--mostly city. Highway I am getting only 18-19. Maybe this is because I usually travel around 80 mph and do not use cruise control?? Seems I am doing somthing wrong.......

My 26 mpg average on the highway is w/o cruise set and at speeds between 75-90 mph.

Best I've ever seen was 31mpg, with the cruise set a 75 the whole time. Seem to be getting about 20 city/highway mix. Worst was probably around 14 (too much power mode!)
