For the exterior is use soap and the more obvious, water

On the interior, I have this miracle stuff called Meguiars Gold Class Rich leather cleaner.... I go to town with the stuff cause it makes it shine!!! ... I use it on everything except my morning toast.. well almost everything.

I'm assuming that when you use the words 'metal' and 'stuff' you are referring to the SVX engine compartment. Try a silcone based engine detailer. That 'stuff' will make all 'stuff' shine! Try using a mild degreaser before and take it to a power wash...

People always think I'n strange when I wash my car in the rain, I think I'm more sane than them Most people seem to believe that rain makes cars dirty, it really only moves dirt that is already there arround, and if you drive in the rain road dirt gets splashed up on ya so if ya wash in the rain and don't drive it afterwards then you don't need to pre wet, rinse, or worry about the car drying out

I generally use only Ivory soap because its 99 44/100% pure and I like to keep my skin 'baby' soft.

PS: Did I also mention that it floats ?

A sudden, out-of-nowhere downpour came up while I washed my car a couple of weeks ago. It was a very warm day and I just kept going, and by the time I was done, it seemed downright sensible. Well, except for the fact that I was drenched. The neighbors are now convinced that I've truly lost my mind.

I'm pleased with Meguire's products for inside and out (to which I was introduced when Mom gave me a car-care Care package upon my purchase of the SVX), and discovered just yesterday that Mother's Show-Car Shine (?) does a decent job of minimizing patches of clear coat haze. Now, to see how long it lasts...

What about Simple Green? I seem to recall other members using the stuff to clean under their hood.

Cleaning:

Eagle One A2Z for tires and wheel cleaning.

diluted Woolite for general interior cleaning, including an attachment off the home carpet cleaner to clean the carpets & mats.

Meguiar's Gold Class car wash for exterior cleaning.

citrus (orange stuff) based cleaner for under hood and wheel wells.

Lexol leather cleaner.

Novus plastic polish on the headlamps.

Protection:

Lexol leather conditioner.

Rain-X on glass

303 Aerospace Protectant for interior vinyl treatment.

either Meguiar's gel, or Eagle One "wet look" for tire treatment.

Meguiar's NXT for "wax" (it's actually a polymer sealant).

I don't do anything about the aluminum on the SVX, but for those who do, I use Simichrome metal polish on my Norton.

i tried a tar remover on my car and nothing, then my dad recomended charcoal lighter fluid, and it works really well, the only thing i reccomend doing is that when you scrub off the tar with a heavy duty rag, clean off the exccess tar ( it leaves like a brownish yellow stain) if you dont wash off the extra tar it will stain the paint and your f*cked, im gonna try to use some grease be gone product and if it dosent work then im trully effed, the previous owner tried to take it off before me and thats how it stained

Arguably the best product would be 3M Adhesive, War, & Tar remover. Make sure you wax afterward. If that's isn't enough then you might try a paint prep solvent, like used to wipe down a car before painting.
