power steering pump woes
Need to replace my power steering pump on my 94 svx 2 wheel drive. Got a rebuilt from advanced auto but it don't fit. Deinstalled the resevoir and noticed that the power steering pump is a flush fit with a recess for the resevoir to fit into. The rebuilt power steering pump is just the opposite with a lip for the resevoir to fit in.
Any advice on what is the correct source for a power steering pump for this model? Thanks karmaken

I'm guessing that they gave you one for a different Subaru model. Anyway, you can get an OEM pump from one of the online Subaru parts retailers listed in the links section. Subaruparts.com is a favorite, or try Mike at Kerven.

Thanks for the info. What do you think about a rebuild kit? Symtoms are that the pulley mounted to the power steering pump seizes and the belt squeels spinning around the motionless pulley.
The pump I ordered was allegedly for the svx. It looks quite simular except for the lip. I'm thinking its for a later model. The same model steering pump is spec'ed for a 93 and a 95. Go figure. Thanks Advanced Auto. The price I paid was 129 plus a core charge. Subaruparts.com was priced at 159. Should I go for that? Again, thanks for the reply. happy trails karmaken
