Hot tranny resistor holder?

While working on my SVX today (finally got around to putting real coolant back in the system instead of just running water, long story) and I happened to reach down next to the battery by the resistor to pick something up and noticed a warm spot near my hand. I then happened to brush the holder for the resistor and found it was extremely hot! Is this normal? I recently installed a small car shift kit, and did most of the alternator wiring upgrade (still need the bigger line to chassis ground, just trying to figure out how I'm going to attach it to the negative battery terminal), but I wouldn't think either of those would have that kind of an effect at idle speeds. The car runs fine, so it doesn't seem to be causing a problem, but as hot as it is I don't want to risk it burning itself or something nearby it if this is abnormal.
