New problem?..... Clunking/squeaking

Okay, while driving around I notice (maybe it happened before, I dunno) that when going over bumps I hear clunking and squeaking noises. The squeaking sounds like a rattle, except, well it's squeaking and not rattling. I hear the same squeaky noise right as either door is closed. Any advice on this? I did a search for "squeak*" but didn't really get anywhere.

Oh! Also I got a 4 year / 48000 mi Powertrain warranty. So now at least the Transmission is no longer a worry to me.

My SVX used to make a squeak/clunk sound at the rear when I would go over a speed bumb. It was the sway bar bushings. The dealership took them off, greased them up and put them back on. No more squeak/clunk when I go over a speed bump. If they do take off the bushings, make sure the bolts are tight enough. It's not good when they fall out.

Sorry this went into this forum; I meant for it to go into the tech. Q & A. It's definitely coming from the front; very prominent when closing doors and hitting any sizable bump in the road...could it be the front sway bar?

Sorry to "resurrect" this thread, but I am having my car in the shop now to correct the problem. They think it's the stabilizer links (for the front), and parts are very expensive. What should I do, and has anyone had this "squeaky clunk" noise in the front before, and what did you do to fix it?
Thanks.
This thread might need to be moved to the Tech Q&A forum.

Get new bushings at about 7 bucks a piece and put them in. That should help.

What is the exact name of these bushings, and what do they do/where are they located in the suspension? I'll need to know for when I go to the parts store I've got my car in the shop looking to find what the clunking noise is coming from the front end, over light or heavy bumps or ruts in the road. The guy showed me that the stabilizer links in the front are loose or something; could that be it? I want to be sure, since those are about 120 dollars each from the dealer.

If you're paying more than $75 then you are getting ripped off.

did it keep squeeking?

Aloha Gcookaustin,

I have the same squeeking noise and as an added bonus a racket of front end bump noise. Would not be a problem if I did not live in the land of potholes. Did your stabilizer link fix the problem?

Mahalo,

Nick

I never did it, I took it into the Subaru place and they say that they looked over it and that it was either the strut or the shock absorber; they say it's on the right side but the noise seems to come from both sides.
