How long does it take to swap the brake lines over to the braided ones?

A couple hours and however many beers that requires. Not a particularly drawn out job, as long as everything comes apart nicely.

In our climate you'll likely need some Liquid Wrench and/or heat to get the old ones off. Spray the fittings a few times in advance.
A real brake line wrench also helps so you don't strip the fittings from the wrench slipping.

Maybe this is something I should leave to a professional. How long should it take my mechanic (or Nate if he ever gets his a$$ up this way).

When you replace just the rear lines do you have bleed both front and rear calipers? I ask this because I replaced my rear rotors and calipers and my front brakes failed in 500 miles. Looks like frozen or non functioning caliper. I knew Subaru did do x brakes. One RF and One LR etc.

You would only need to bleed wherever air could have been introduced into the system. Unless you leave a caliper off long enough for air to make it's way in to a joining position the other corners will be fine.

That being said, replacing a caliper is a good opportunity to do a brake flush and get new fluid through the whole car. I always find that makes a huge difference in pedal feel.

Thanks. Must be just a coincidence that the front stuck after the rear were replaced. I am going to inspect the rear again. Re grease the slides.
