OBD1 upgrade to OBD2?

Has anyone done it? Is it possible? If so, please note if you can, what the major changes have to be?

Re: OBD1 upgrade to OBD2?

not sure why u would want this... doesnt ECUtunes chips only work with OBDI? As well I thought the hydra for the SVX was only OBDI as well could be wrong on that

Re: OBD1 upgrade to OBD2?

This would be an extensive modification, several of wiring harness are different, there are more oxygen sensors, and a few other things

Re: OBD1 upgrade to OBD2?

You would probably have to completely remove the wiring harness from the OBI car and take the wiring harness from an OBDII car and put it in. Its a ton of work as that would involve removing the whole dash as well as basically the whole HVAC system behind it.

I would have to agree with Sov13t and ask why you would want to do this. The OBDI system can be self diagnosed while the OBDII system you need to have a cpu reader, OBDI is able to be "chipped" while the OBDII is not(at least right now).

Re: OBD1 upgrade to OBD2?

OBDI is perfered if your doing any mods to your car. The ECUtune chips dont work, the Hydra just recently became compatible with it (I think?). One of the reasons I sold my 96 and bought a 94 was to go to OBDI
