About to buy a 96 red/tan with 47,000 miles

Well this is my first post as a member of this forum. I just became interested in the SVX a few weeks ago. I'd noticed them on the road, but never really thought about buying one untill now.

Anyway, im going to look at a 96 red/tan SVX with 47,000 miles. What should I look for? Any specific questions I should ask? I'd appreciate any help.

Check the AT fluid. Check the oil. Check all the cv joints. Check to see if there is any CV joint clicking buy driving around in a circle as tight as possible. Um... www.carfax.com uh.... what else... get it checked by a Subie Mechanic if you can. Inspections are only 60-100 bucks, and its a lot cheaper than new parts.

I'd almost kill to have a 96 with tan interior and 47,00 miles. Probable would for a 97.

Looks like that isnt the car im going to get. The dealer seemed really sketchy on the phone it was some small time place in dellaware. Now im looking at a Maroon/Tan 96 with 54,000 miles. I applied for the loan today. I hope to pick it up on Saturday.

This one also comes with a warranty.

P.S. I cant wait to come to my first meet.

EFish, I was considering that 96 in Delaware as well but they bought it at an auction and had no history. A 97 with good history did come through when the prospective buyer could not arrange for insurance, so I did not go look at the 96.

I assume you mean United Motors in Delaware. They have a red 96 SVX with 47,000 mi on it. SVXCESS went to look at it.
If the 96 burgundy SVX is at Rafferty Subaru in Newtown Square, PA, let me know. SVXCESS and I have looked at that car. It was hit and repainted. It was bought at auction.
There is another burgundy 96 at Faulkner Mitsubishi just north of Phila. It had 47,000 miles on it. When we saw it, there was a swimming pool in the trunk.

We have a beautiful 97 Bordeaux Pearl SVX LSi with 47,000 mile on it. My Mom's parents came from Sicily and my uncle runs
"Da Brooklyn SVX Club".
The license plate on my 92 Pearl SVX reads 'SVXY'.
