Oh, come on. Almost everything these days has a transverse engine and you're going to ding Honda for it?

The transverse engine makes a lot of sense for plenty of reasons. Get over it.

If you want a pain in the ass to work on, try an MR2. Transverse or not, the engine is entirely surrounded by car.

If I have to work on one, I'd take a Honda, or any front transverse-engined car over that any day.

If you want a car that's good in the snow, get one with AWD/4WD and a decent set of winter tires.

Thinking...

Thats what I was thinking...but someone said FWD is just as good. I want a honda prelude---I am looking at 2 a 90 and 92. Can you put a 4wd into a 2wd. (Im not the smartest car person). How much would it cost?
Thanks.

Anything can be done for a price . . . but you said you're on a tight budget. I think the cheapest way to turn a Prelude into a 4WD would be to buy an old Jeep and mount the Prelude body on its frame.

Since this appears to be your first auto buying venture, I'd like to make one more suggestion to you:

Get together a list of cars you're interested in, (Make, Model, Year, Options, etc.) and go have a serious talk with your insurance agent. You appear to be a younger driver, the type that insurance companies hate to insure, but love to take money from. Depending on what car you buy, your insurance cost for a year could be as much as what you have budgeted for your purchase!

Car purchase price is only one small part of the equation, do some more homework.

Good Luck,
Dan

Hey

I am insured through Erie right now--Crazy pricing. I have done my homework. I am planning on going through Nationwide--considering I have to go through them for insurance to--I get a really good deal.
I am young-19. Its a pain.
If a 2wd is going to be good in the winter Im not worried about the 4wd...just thought it would be safer.
It kinda sucks Im stuck with a 4 cyl. but if I had anything faster--I would have a ton of tickets, and they are better with gas...so I guess I cant complain.
