Auto trans, what years fit?

Wondering if any of you know what years of transmissions fit other years. As near as I've been able to find, 92 and 93 are interchangable with each other, also 95, 96 and 97 are the same. Is this right, or can a 96 be used in a 92?

According to my dealer, 92-94 are interchangable, and 95-97 are interchangable.

Thinking about it though, there shouldnt be much reason why you couldnt use a 95 up tranny on a early model svx. In theory, as long as you swap the TCU, it should work... dont u think?

That's what I'm wondering. Would it plug in, and would the earlier TCU work?

There was an earlier posting on this with a level 10 replacement tranny. If I remember right the wiring harness is different and the place where the wires come out of the tranny is different.
