car cover recommendations - 97 SVX

i recently purchased this wonderful car in July of this year and i am new to this site and the world of SVX. i need a car cover for it will be outside.... It's brilliant red. i will need something with effective protection but still lightweight and very easy to handle. I am looking for recommendations and past experiences. I am looking at custom covers made of NOAH and Weather Shield materials. I also see one being advertised by Motorsport -- I would love some feedback.

thank you - barbara

I find that masonary and wood make the best coverings.

Actually I think he's right. With a car cover you always risk scratching the paint. Keeping it in a garage (if available) is much safer.

ps. welcome to the site Barbara, don't let us scare you away

I heve found that the factory SVX cover does a most admirable job. My car stays outside all the time and it is fairly substantial, yet lightweight.

I have occasionally put it in a large capacity commercial washing machine without any detrimental effects. It is available HERE at subaruparts. com

I always kept mine in the garage WITH the genuine subaru cover. This kept it out of the elements, AND free of garage dust. Why not combine the two?

I did the same thing with my Red '97 - in the garage with the genuine cover. Great fit and it kept the dust off ... But, it also put little wax smears all over the body and even the windows. I had to buff it out everytime I went to drive it (once a week).

I don't know if its my wax (maguires)or if it was on there from previous owner (turtle wax). Cover is only about a year old. Maybe I'll try washing it ...

It seems a lot of the companies who sell the covers dont produce their own, I got a California Car Covers cover and it was dropshiped from somewhere else with their logo on it, then the G/D cats picked a hole through my $150 cover
