I.......Have A Cunning Plan
I've been asking recently both here and on other Subaru and SVX Forums for contacts to undertake various tasks such as servicing, tuning, transmission work and so on and so forth. So far I've collected a few handy contacts both locally and not so locally. Some I've got may be no use to me but possibly of use to another SVX owner in another part of the country.
Some of you guys have had your SVXs for considerably longer than I and must have even more details of trusted specialists. Would it not make sense to pool our resources and get all this info in one place so any one here, old or new, could find a reliable and knowledgeable company in the UK to take their SVX to for work without all the hunting around for info trawling websites and telephone directories? I'm not sure how we'd do it on here but I suppose as we're only a small forum here within the SVX Network scheme of things we could just for starters have a new thread where we enter the name and contact details of the company in question, what services they provide and any remarks you may have about their skills, costs, reliability etc. What reckon ye?

I take it by the deafening silence that my plan is not as cunning as I first thought.

Probably because good specialists are hard to find. I have a gem of a mechanic here, but not much use for the rest of you.

Cunning Stunt
allright.
Good idea Monzta. If all owners were willing to put forward the name of a technician or dealership they had used, and that they considered competent and knowledgeable, then new members would have a good starting point, somewhere to go for help. I suggest setting up a thread called "Useful Dealerships amd Technicians", and then people could post up details of their experience where it could easily be found and referenced. There won't be so many, so it should not really be necessary to categorise it as in a database. Just let people read up what thay want to know. Start the ball rolling, Monzta? Joe

Joe,
I'm hoping to get my car serviced at a local place soon. If they're as good as people say they are then I'll post full details. They know Impreza's inside out and I hope that knowledge extends to SVXs too.

At the top of the page there's a seldom used category called SVX Shop Search. Long ago I suggested as we visit dealerships OR independant mechanics in various locales, we'd take the time to enter a vote of satisfaction or otherwise. Even if the work weren't necessarily SVX related such as brake, or tranny flushing, it would be nice to know who treats us fairly & who we'd recommend to other members. I believe the tab is USA oriented by postal zip code. It should be useable by the international members as well. Management?
Ron.

Thanks Ron,
Never looked into that because it was not relevant for me, but it looks useful. We could do with a version of it for England, Ireland, and our friends on mainland Europe. Probably without the zip code thing. Postal codes are not in use everywhere. Joe
