Question about water in door panel
While working on my window regulator issues, I happen to take the car to the car wash while the door panel was still removed. This was mostly a test to see how well the seal formed around the window. Well during this process I noticed lots of water running on the inside of the door panel down from the bottom of the window. My first question is this normal? Since I do not regularly drive with no door panels I dont know the answer to this.
Thanks!

Re: Question about water in door panel
I recently drove without the panels a while back while in reasonably hard, not driving, rain. No noticeable water running inside the doors.

Re: Question about water in door panel
So with that said it sounds like the window is not sealed properly. Related to the reglulator??

Re: Question about water in door panel
Do you get any wind noise from the door or window?

Re: Question about water in door panel
I am by no means an expert on this stuff, but intuition tells me that with the volumes of water under pressure at a car wash would have to force water past the hard seal into the door. The plastic liner isn't there for dust. I do know that the rubber/plastic seal should be pushing against the glass and that it moves just slightly over it when the window is down.
Have you compared with the other door?

Re: Question about water in door panel
There is some noise from the upper portion of the window but surprisingly the water was not leaking from there.

Re: Question about water in door panel
do you have rust holes in your doors and is that side plastic modeling lose where water can get around it?

Re: Question about water in door panel
There is thankfully no rust (garage kept its whole life) and the plastic molding is also in good condition.

Re: Question about water in door panel
Hi,
please check for the weather strip running along the fixed window, due to aging they become stiff and donīt fit to the window frame. You get a gap between the fixed window and the door. I fixed this by use of silicon, this far no water running through the doors into the floor. Kind Regards Marcus |

Re: Question about water in door panel
Mine look like the ones in the first picture.
I haven't had a chance to dig into the door panel recently

Re: Question about water in door panel
Bringing back my older thread...
I spent some more time on the window recently and I am still getting the leak. Here is a picture with the driver door panel removed. This is after replacing the regulator with a brand new one. I adjusted the window to the factory specs but its still leaking. The passenger side is fine in comparison. This picture is while in a car wash. My only guess is that it could be the seal, but I want to be really certain before spending that much on this.

Re: Question about water in door panel
or you could just replace the door if worse comes to worse.
