Re: The plan

Finally got around to doing my CF vinyl. Didn't do the door pieces yet. It was a lot easier doing it with the spare pieces from the parts car. Did you do the armrest pieces in the back or skip them?

Re: The plan

I went to a custom exhaust shop today only to be told to come back tomorrow when the "master fabricator" is on duty.
They had some REALLY good ideas on my new exhaust and are very receptive to suggestions. Though the parts they have to order wont be in until 1/26. Basically the exhaust is going to be very similar to a C4 vette. I will take tons of pics when its getting installed.

The guys at the shop (all older) were all over the SVX. I don't think I have ever received so many compliments. None could believe it was a nearly 20yr old Subaru! 5 more months and it will officially be 20 (6/91 build date).

On another note... my cam seals are leaking bad. The under-tray is soaked with oil. Its clearly leaking out where the timing cover meets the block. Meh... I guess I am going to pull the engine and reseal the whole dam thing including head gaskets. I might as well detail & paint while I am at it. I am tossing the idea around about adding some cams. We will see. So much for saving for a 6MT swap anytime soon.

That is why I used 2 glass pack mufflers as resonators.
As to the stock tips I did not reuse them because the opening is quite a bit smaller then which could cause restrictions.

Re: The plan

I drove all the way home with the radio off so I could hear it. I called the shop a block away and told them to order the resonators!

The car smelled like it was gonna catch fire. Not nearly as bad as heat-wrapping down-pipes... but close!

Notice how well they tucked the exhaust up? Chris did a hell of a job. Kinda slow though... 7:30am to 2:45pm. But the quality of work was worth it.

Re: The plan

Wow my suspension is KNACKERD!!!!!!! The struts have an 09/06 build date so they have been replaced at some point. If I compress one, it stays compressed. The original strut mounts are completely shot. LOL They have collapsed and set about 3/4 lower than the new ones! Hey custom lowering strut mounts! ;0) There is an easy way for you guys to check (the fronts atleast) If the center of the strut mount viewed by removing the plastic cover on the strut tower in the engine bay is not flush, its bad. The very center of mine (where you remove the plug to access the nut that holds the strut mount to the strut) sticks up about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch! WOW!!! He is how bad it is, I cut one coil off the spring and then and then reassembled the new strut, strut mount and modified spring. The measurement from the ground to the top of the wheel arch is 26 1/2 either side (new compared to old). Had I not, the distance would have been about 27". Nothing like replacing worn parts and LIFTING the car. I would not have been pleased to increase the "nose in the air" Subaru look.

Exclamation Re: The plan

Have a look at the collapsed strut mounts. If the center (bearing) is raised on yours, they are bad and probably knocking over bumps.

Your car sounds GREAT in person. I hope the addition of resonators will get mine closer to yours. We are using pretty much the exact set up with the exception that I am running an H-pipe and resonators instead of glass packs.

And though you cant see it, the pipe is replaced all the way into the tips and then shaped to match the opening. I doubt there is any restriction there.
