Re: Factory Cup Holder

I've never seen one of these before... interesting.... so to use it you have to drive around with your centre console open?

Re: Factory Cup Holder

I sold 3 brand new ones I had. I got about $25-30 for the first 2 and then $50 something for the last one.

Maybe if you are lucky someone that is on here from Alaska will accuse you of selling impreza cupholders b/c they can't find it in their parts book. True story

Re: Factory Cup Holder

I would guess you would have to drive with the console open to use it.
My large coffee is too tall for it to close even without the cup holder insert.
I was going to buy one of these, but i am just going to make my own.

Re: Factory Cup Holder

My 97 came with one and I still have it, but it doesn't get used.

Yup, I don't get why people pay up to $80.00 for these things. Plus what do you do with all the stuff that would normally be in the console.

Re: Factory Cup Holder

I never really kept anything in my console. The huge door pockets held a lot of the kind of stuff.

Re: Factory Cup Holder

I happily found out that I had one of these (factory cup holder, was hidden in the "secret" drawer and I didnt recognize it for what it was for several months since it looks like a $2 piece of plastic) and I DO use it but having the console open is a PITA! LOL
And it is true, I cant really keep anything else in the console if I am going to use the cup holder.

Re: Factory Cup Holder

wedge cupholders are the ones from walmart.

I bid, but cant justify $50 for that little thing.

I think something like this would be quite useful for people who use the SVX as a sunday warrior. Car's like that usually dont have anything in the center console, plus its just another little OEM rarity that people like me are obsessed with.

There have been stereo DIN cupholders installed b4 in the SVX. to lazy to find one right now... some have more success then others. I believe its the taurus or escort one that fits well...Some one want to post on that?

Re: Factory Cup Holder

I have a rectanglar piece of plastic with 2 cup sized holes cut out. It is the same idea as the factory cup holder, but cost all most nothing to make. It doesn't have the piece on the bottom side but it works pretty well for the occasional times that I need it. (and Yes I am a Sunday driver so my console is nice and empty.)

Paying $30-$40-$50 for a OEM cup holder doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It is not like it is really nice or anything. It always stuck me as the absolute minimum that the Subaru engineers could possible do to design a cup holder.

I know, seriously. "cup holder? crap.... guys we forgot to put in a cup holder.....hey wong, go get me that piece of plastic over there and a drill..."

Still, there is the allure of rare OEM for some people...(me) If I had your copy version of stock, I would STILL want the OEM one....
