Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
hmmm that would be an awesome project since he has a few EG33's around the house and they weren't included with the purchase of the car I bought from him
I think I am going to send you a PM about something Mac.

Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
It'll be rear wheel drive and the hope is to retain the 2.8 German Ford engine same as the real Mercury Capri. Very much a tunable engine. Even the fuel injection system is adjustable from factory.. Wickapedia has a great quote on their write up about it "one of the scariest cars ever in the wet" 2500 is the federal weight and much of that is in those beautiful bumpers. It will weigh less.

Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
Lets see an expensive heavier engine with fairly limited cheap tuning options vs what's in there now. Really I don't think I'd want more than 200hp in it anyways as there is absolutely no weight in the rear as it is.

Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
I had a friend with a neighbor working on a TVR. When I moved from that part of the state he was in the process of installing the turbo'd engine from a late 80s Mercour XR4ti. I was hoping to get a ride in it before I left, but no luck!!
Have fun with it!! |

Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
Yeppers that WOULD be a great home for the 190hp turbo 2300 from a T-bird. The other thing to remember, the 4.0l in the Ford Ranger is a bolt in replacement for the 2.8. Though the 2.8 SHOULD be a gear drive, solid lift cam. Find a nice 2bbl intake & slap a Barry Grant Holley carb on it. Though for looks, you can't beat 3 webers with polished stacks....MMMMMMM Chrome.....
There are hop up parts galore out there for that motor.

Quote:
Remember it is the Cologne or Essex 2.8 so it isn't exactly the same as a US 2.8. Not sure how different the block would be but the Ranger would be one of the engines I'd consider if a swap is needed after getting a look at the fuel injection system.

Re: Looking for recommendations on a car transporter
I talked to him last night (we live about 10 miles apart) and he said it got delayed due to the recent CO snow. They told him either this weekend or monday it will be picked up.
