Unhappy Why are my bulbs on..?

I think that 10 anniv. meet virus thing got to me, and I'm not even going!

Anyway, I park my car in the driveway, it's around 10 pm at night. I step out of my car and notice my parking lights on (front and rear).. I say to myself "hrm... maybe they'll dim with the room light inside" but I never thought that before. Unfortunately, they stayed on and I was forced to remove the battery connections. I'm not all too familiar with my fusebox, so I don't know if anything may be screwy in there.

I was supposed to drive it to where I was going later on, too. Instead drove my brother's 88 Supra, which wasn't bad in itself, but still. I didn't have the pleasure of my car. =\

Does anyone have a solution for me? Help would be so appreciated. =p

Thanks,
-scooch

Check your parking light switch. It might be on. Otherwise, check the wire. You might have shorted something out.

The most simple answer is you may have bupmed the parking light switch (left of the steering wheel in the suede area) with your knee. That will cause them to stay on.

The next simplest is that the alarm relay is sticking. Unplug the alarm module (under the dash on passenger side) and see if they go out.

If it isn't either of those, its either a short or a bad headlight switch.

Good Luck.

!@

Out of my almost-a-year of having this car, I have never paid any real attention to that switch. I thought parking lights only turned on with ya know, the REGULAR parking/headlight switch ^_^ That's what I get for making my seat closer to the steering wheel because I actually had a fourth passenger.

I swear, something as stupid as that... hah =p Anyway, thanks so much for your help.

I think I'll go lurk for a couple weeks or so..haha

Scooch, we're glad that was all it was. Some of us have done similar things (see "Windshield Washer Won't Work" thread )

Seeing as how you live in Chicago, you may also use your mirror heaters at one time or another to melt off ice or frost. Make sure you turn them off. They are not on a timer, and if not turned off manually, will burn out the element. I wonder if a "Rear window defroster" timer could be retrofitted. Hmmm another project for Lwin, maybe.

Yes! I was thinking to myself afterwards, "I unplugged my battery for that?!" What a coincidence, too, I was reading the thread earlier that day and thinking, "Gee, I wonder if something like that will ever happen to me"

I noticed a couple weeks ago that I don't ever use my mirror heaters much and I walked out of the car and noticed that the mirrors were hot.. Turned the button off right away =p
