I just got a mac mini. I figured out how to use the internet in only 35 minuts! I dont have an I pod, what else can it do?

Widgets are kinda of cool to toy around with.
I think with multiple windows open it's F9 to move them around tiny and select one.

I hear your more creative when using a Mac , did it come with Garageband? iMovie is there I'm sure... make some SVX goodness and load it on YouTube .

Yeah it came with garbageband Its on the big bottom bar, what is that? I dont know how to make videos, or load them, or put them on you tube. SVX goodness is on hold until I get monte carlo oldness off of my lift.

I cant find virus software does it need it?

I did go through it but no mention of virus software. just simple crap like, here's how to hook it up stupid!

Ill go through the tutorials eventually, just checking to see if anyone knew about any trick daddy stuff that xp pro cant do.

Welcome to the Mac Cult,

For starters; you needn't worry too much about virus software. Yes, mac's are hackable, but not as easily as a PC. If you're paranoid go to mozilla.com and download the latest Firefox browser (free, and a lot safer than Safari).

The dock (little bar at the bottom of the screen) is just a list of shortcuts to apps that you use often. You can customize it by dragging off unwanted icons, or adding icons dragged from your applications folder. Also look in your system preferences (it should be in your dock as a bunch of gears, if not look up at the top under the apple symbol menu). This is where you setup the look of your computer, make it your own. Get rid of that ugly universe thing on and put a pic of a pretty SVX up as your desktop picture.

Enjoy the new toy, and start learning some of those fun apps you now have.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is a version of Avast! for the Mac, I use it, it's free for personal use.

Once I finally figured out "safari" was not a tour of random animals, I quickly downloaded firefox. Im not sure what all of these icons are either. They dont really explain much on osx. Its like they expect anyone who uses it to already have experience. I cant even really find tours and stuff either.

Im headed to the repair center on monday or tuesday so I can have the memory installed. They void the warranty if you open it yourself. lame.

Just 'cause you don't have an iPod, iTunes is still great to download music to....make your CD's for the driving you do in the SVX.
Use iPhoto to organize your pics, and make hardcover books if you want...coffee table SVX book, perhaps?

My son works at a "Mac only" computer place, so if you need some help, let me know and I'll try to put you together. He uses all the apps...Garage band etc.

The "MAC mini" is a box about five or six inches square that runs OSX. You can use it with an existing display so you can get into a MAC and use your old display from your PC. They are pretty cheap in price. Take care, BOBB
P/S I see that Apple is now number 3 in computers after Dell and HP. So the speculation was that they will be dropping prices. Sounds like they might get serious! "B"
