ok, maybe a little condecending calling it 'boy racer', I bought a wing (rear spoiler over here) from a guy in California in original kit form with intent to fit....must admit it was a close call but decided in the end I want to keep the car as original as poss, so I sold it on.....and made a tidy profit too!
There's that many cars over here with wings/spoilers, body kits etc it just starts to look 'the same old'......what ever floats yer boat I suppose

My silver SVX has a wing, the teal doesn't. Viewed from afar, I've noticed the wing gives the silver an extreme rake, making the nose seem really low relative to the trailing edge. I like that silhouette.

But I still prefer the wingless teal. So much cleaner visually and aerodynamically, in my view. Wings just strike me as pointless, sports-car-wannabe cargo. Seems so many cars on the road have 'em, not having one is the exception.

That said, everyone I know who has offered an opinion favors the silver.

wing for the win. more is more, less is not.

"does my car look good with a bunch of holes in the trunklid?"

no.

I'm debating what to do when i get my 2tone done on my barcelona. Black top red body is nice, but i'm not sure if i want a spoiler on it or not.

Or i could always do this:
Wing

There's a difference between a "wing" and a "spoiler".

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little!

With the spoiler moved back 2"

Note the continuous line from the decklid up through the arc of the spoiler. (nice work huck) My only gripe about the wing is it tends to restrict rearward visibilty a bit. On the plus side it DOES block a lot of cars' headlights from glaring at night.

Yes I know my fronts are on backwards in that pic...they're not now.

I too prefer the 2 tone cars w/o the spoiler. Those cars are just what Gugario had in mind with his sketches!
Though the red cars look a bit tail heavy with them, the monochrome cars don't look right without them.

If the wing was shaped to match the curve of the rear edge of the trunklid, it'd look better. Instead it matches the curve of the front of the trunklid...It just doesnt look factory in thaat sence

Then the JDM spoiler, which DOES follow the trunk's lines, wraps around the sides and ruins the clean side profile

The black two-tone helps alliviate the visual weight of the spoiler, but removing the spoiler cleans up the car's lines both from the side and the back, regardless of it's color

i prefer the rear spoiler looking at an svx from the exterior. in my mind, something is missing as i've never owned, driven, or passengered in an svx without one. while inside, i might like it better without the rear spoiler for better visibility.

mmmmmm ... that may be it !!!
the reason it looks good with a spoiler ... you don't notice it ...

spoiler on or off ... either way, it still retains the quality of the overall design

I like the look moving it back ... you kinda notice it a bit more ... is that a good thing?

My vote goes to having a wing. My Polo would be naked without it.

I think they look naked without a wing as well, same with WRXes, (actually, IMHO the 2nd gen Imps look naked w/out a spoiler, WRX or not.)
