I ran a 8.5" with 35 offset, so I'd say yes.

They look sweet.

I think 40 offset is recommended, but people have used other sizes with no problems.

I'd think you should be able to find 17 or 18" with tires for $500 or less. No shortage around here. How bad do you want BBS?

No rubbing whatsoever. They were 18 X 8.5 w/ 215/40-18s on there, but 225s would have been fine as well. The full fender looked very good.

BBS crosswires are standard on the SVX in Japan '95-'97, but not this style.

One useful piece of advice I will give you Brian. Check with the guy what weight these rims are, preferably without tyres. The standard SVX rims we have are actually of a very high quality. They are lighter and stronger than the vast majority of aftermarket rims.

If these BBS rims are heavier, they will change the unsprung weight for the worse, and you will notice a difference [degradation] in handling and braking.

Joe

Wise advice Joe, it should be headed by many. The OEM alloy wheels, (rims and all!) are very hard to better and they are especially easy to clean. An objective view on how they are defective, would make interesting reading.

Compliments of the season Joe, Trevor.

Blasting and painting should cost a lot less than new wheels and you would be better off.

Edit P.S. I think you will find that the wheels you have illustrated have a big disadvantage, in that a normal socket may not fit fully down the recessed wheel nut hole. My son has a set with this problem.

Does anyone know about how you would "refinish" the original rims? It seems to me it would just be a paint material??? mine look horrible. The center caps are white. The rims just look aged. I never would get any other rims. I've never seen any that made an SVX look better.

Get them sand blasted or bead blasted and repainted. I did my centre caps myself with a spray can and they are still good 7 yrs later.

If you apply some elbow grease and use some wet emery paper, you can do the wheels yourself with a couple of spray cans. You do not have do the insides, simply clean this area up a bit.

P.S. If you stick to silver paint, you will find that this is user friendly and does not show up slight errors.

Go to it. and have a happy Christmas.

I have to disagree about other rims not looking better on the SVX I have a set of 17s on my 92 and it made the car look 100x better. I have a picture of it on my myspace

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=31633014

I paid around 350 for the set new. I got them from a rim wholesaler. Everyone said the rims made the car look much newer. The stock rims are just plain ugly, but easy to clean.

now if you want your rims to look like new again put your car on blocks and take your rims to a tire shop and have them remove your tires then drop them off at any powder coaters shop. it should run you about 45-55 a rim. they will strip your rims pain and powder coat them...this will last forever and never fade. it is tons more durable. My stock rims look like new from when I had this done.
