Best sounding exhaust setup?

Just wanna get some opinions on a nice, quiet, rumbly exhaust setup. Post some sound/vid clips if you got em.

Well after a year of having the Stebro I can honestly say I love the sound. Most everyone I know likes the sound of the exhaust. Even the tech guys at AutoX and a Subie Salesman complimented me on the note.

I like it because it really does sound like a G35/Porsche. It doesn't drone when driving. When its cold and gets to 3500 RPM it sounds really nice! I'll see about getting a quality sound clip. My autoX videos you can kinda hear it but you gotta know which car is which by the position on the track and exhaust note.

Given the nature of the Stebro and the "BillStock" stock muffler (let's just say it's very similar to the Stebro design), it's almost as if the car sounds best with a large open cavity at the end of the exhaust system. Try 1.625 in OD pipe throughout, a 2 into 1 high flow secondary cat, a high flow resonator (the one Dayle offers works nicely) and the least restrictive muffler you can find - if you can't afford the Stebro muffler. Removing the primary cats will result in a resonance if you don't replace them with some other type of restrictive device (don't use any type of "normal" muffler, as you don't want material flaking out of them and fouling the secondary cat).
-Bill
p.s. while I don't have any sound clips of Billstock/Battlestar's exhaust, you can ask TOMSSVX, Benebob, Hoecrest, NEWSVX, etc. who were at the Subaru Challenge as to what they "heard"

What is the diameter of the stock exhaust manifold, is it smaller than that? Is it possible to get stainless steel piping? I don't want some shop throwing a piece of aluminum pipe up in there just so it can rust out in a year.

You can definitely get stainless pipe in 1.5, 1.625, 1.75, etc. OD.

You can always check what is stamped on the tubing to see if it is SS (303,413, etc.). Run of the mill exhaust pipe will be magnetic (i.e. a magnet will stick to it), lower grade SS (400 series) will also be magnetic, but not as much as plain steel (300 series SS is not magnetic at all)...

My '95 has the full Stebro system on it and it sounds great! Deffinetly has that Porsche sound. Dont hear it at idle in the car, but gives a very nice thick tone when making trips to redline.

The video on this thread sounds really nice, just ignore all the other stupidity.

That SVX used to belong to chris92svxlsl, and apparently has a Borla exhaust he installed. Nice deep mellow sound.

Want mine?? I am gonna be reinventing my exhaust this winter... I can toss it on the car while it is here... If you search the dyno meet thread, you can find video of my car pulling on the dyno and hear it... granted an N/A sounds a little different the principle is still the same

I think mine sounds the best.

It's only loud between 1900ish and 3400ish rpms, and even then the stereo can drown it out.

I have a custom mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust system that is similar in configuration to the stock system. It was fabricated by Mufflex in Hamilton, NJ. The tips are from Dayle. My main muffler is a Bullet. Single 2 1/2" inlet, dual 2 1/4" outlets. I finally found their website:

Here's a picture:
