Fuel for thought

Has anyone out there done fuel consumption checks regarding the english gallon? i saw a thread on the US. site but they were saying figure's like 24 mpg and considering the US gallon is 1/5 smaller
and these car's are 3.3 litre's and auto box's i find that hard to believe.
Ive been getting 14-15 mpg so i had it put on diognostic's and all seems to be running ok,no check light's have been coming on but the rubber tube to the fuel control valve from the inlet manifold was split, sorted that out now i've just got to do some more mileage checks.
What i need are some figure's from anyone in the UK!

I also function on normal gallons

The highest I've had was 35MPG (all highway). I don't think I've ever been below 17MPG and 5 year average is about 24.5MPG.

Failing oxygen sensors has been known to effect mileage...even if they don't trip a code.

between UK-gallon and US-gallon there is a factor of 1.2.

So just multiply the milage that the US guys quote with 1.2 then you get the equivalent to using UK-gallons.

Usually I need 13 - 14 litres / 100 km when in city traffic and down to 11 L/100km cruising at 140 km/h on the autobahn.

Anyone like to translate to the non-metric world.

the mechanic checked the O2 sensor's to disregard them as a problem, did tha maf as well. I'm just gonna have to see what the figures are now that the pipe to fuel reg is fixed,I'll have to fill up the tank (ouch!) and see what she does now.

I second that. My Plum that I have sold does exactly the same as Mal's.

I once got a low of 17.5, but the gearbox was slipping at the time. Most of the time I got 20-21.

On a run, I would get 25-27, unless my wife was in the car, then 28-30

Mine was on Regular.

Mpg

Hi folks we run a std 95 UK car and we reckon to get about 22-23 mpg around town and 26-28 on a longer run. Runs just on std 95 ron unleaded . Was quite happy with that until I ran a BMW M5 5.0 litre V8 which would match it lol economy wise ( a mite quicker lol but then did have 400bhp). Sold the M5 though as pockets have to very very deep !

Thanks for the conversion pdf. Seems like your mileage runs the same typical ranges also. Even in l/100kms

Wow! Just looked at your profile. Your car has way low miles. Cool.
