I am sorry to hear that. You can always get another one and build it to b just as nice!!!

As to your Noir, I am commenting on jersey's policies. I have no doubt that it is different in different states.

I am sorry to hear that. I know how you feel and I was afraid that was going to be the conclusion when I saw the car. Hope you can find another in even better shape. Don't settle for a cheap replacement.

sorry to hear that dude, try your best to get as much as you can. that's what i had to do when i totalled my svx. then begin the hunt for another svx. try to buy back your svx if you can. i'm sure you could use some of the parts and sell what's good. typically i think the buy-back value is 15% of the payout. good luck bud.

hopefully the next svx will be bigger and badder.

remember, consider yourself lucky...i've had friends who had their lives ruined by drunk drivers. that's why i despise those bastards.

Tom - found it, here's one type from www.nolo.com:

uninsured motorist coverage

The portion of car insurance that compensates you for any injuries resulting from an accident with an uninsured motorist or a hit-and-run driver. Damage to your vehicle in such a situation is compensated by the collision coverage portion of your car insurance.

http://www.usaaedfoundation.org/insurance/ai05.asp

shows that some states include property damage into uninsured motorist...so the bare minimum for most states covers bodily injury.

WoooooW, glad you are fine buddy. and your SVX... A shame. I wish your car was here, I guess it can be saved for no more than $1800.
My bodywork wizard can save her...

Danny, thats not just cosmetic damage, thats structural as well. 1800 will buy the new lights, radiator, bumper, fenders, and hood not to mention the ton of man hours put into it to straighten out the frame. That is well over an 8k job without labor

Tom I know that some of you (if not all) are teased by me over here becasue of the low prices I keep telling you about, really manual labor is a loooot cheaper over here. But I swear on my SVX ( ) that labor for this car is no more than $1500 including paint (pls no comment over this one, you get the best paint material and the best bodywork as I have seen done from many pictures of SVX's in bodyshops in your country. That guy I am telling you about had an offer from Saab but refused to leave becasue of his family and he used to make bulletproof peugeots for the French Embassy during the Lebanese Civil War). radiators + Hood + fenders +....= no more than $1000 if they are picked up from ebay...

well I am glad to hear things are much more cheaper over there but I do not see how even an auto body shop owner could make that car new for under 8k. It is just so much work and parts.

subi-crosser here, DON'T SIGN ANYTHING and DO NOT give them the car!!

You lose your 'barganing chips' ! The insurance co has to repair or replace the car. I had a pissing contest with GMAC last year over a 'hit and run' drunk and my 91 legacy, I WON by hanging in there and FIGHTING ! I got high book for the car, and I still have it! It was my first autocrosser ( after the wreck), and since, it has been repaired and still resides at 'the farm' with all the other Fuji's. It still lacks paint, but it needed painted when it was hit!

The Judge doesn't WANT TO HEAR lame excuses from the drunk or the insurance co! and will ask YOU if you were compensated to your satisfaction. If NOT , he will enter a judgement against the drunk and he will not drive again until it is paid!

On the plus side, I think svxfiles has a pearlie that could be for sale.

Jerry

As much as it sucks to loose the SVX (I know, similar thing happened to mine), consider yourself very fortunate that you weren't seriously injured. I've lost people to the carelessness of drunk driving motherf***ers. My SVX was my baby, and a careless bastard killed it, but thankfully my baby did its job to keep me safe, as did yours. We can both thank the engineers at Subaru for building such a wonderful automobile. And since you still have your health, you are able to search for another. It won't ever replace the first one, but you'll enjoy it nonetheless...

Sorry to hear about your accident Robert

Glad to hear you are alright. Best of luck with the part-out and your hunt for a replacement.
