Update

I got to the parts store today and picked up a few things. I got new plugs, a bunch of cleaners, ordered new oil seals(will get them later), picked up a new pcv valve. I think I am gonna get the engine back together tonight so it is ready to go in tomorrow. I hope all goes well, now i just need to pick up exhaust gaskets. I should be up and running thurs afternoon if I take my time and double check everything. If anyone is thinking of doing their front seals i found an easier way to get them than ordering them and waiting 2 weeks to get em. I wrote all the #'s down off the front of the seals and brought the #'s to NAPA. They entered them in and now they have ordered them for me.

Oil pump seal- BH3882E/NOK/18
Cam seals- AH1880G/NOK/14

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for them. The seals will cost about $20-$30. Sorry I didn't think about this earlier Tom.

Another Update

Just an update for u guys. I am taking a quick break, you know when you start leaking from the finger it is time to take a break. I have to unbolt the motor mounts and unbolt the trans and that is it, the old engine comes out. I will strip the oil pan off an swap it onto the new motor. I need to swap some vaccum hoses as well as the new motor has some broken ones. This engine should run much better than the old one since it will have all of the vaccum lines and sensors under the intake attached. Some of the old sensor had broken fittings. So... the new engine has been "tunned up" with new plugs and new seals. All of the coil packs have been replaced. The engine has been detailed much like the old one but there will be some new effects I will be adding to up the bling factor. Anyway I will keep any of u interested in suspense until I take picks when I am done. Engine should be planted tomorrow and running.

Tom

well engine is ready to go in. it took a little longer than expected due to some rusty bolts breaking loose. I had to cut all of the exhuast studs and drill them out to fit some bolts(2hrs...dont ask why). I also had to drill out the egr pipe comming from the manifold(1hr due to some snacking). I am pooped and taking this break to regroup and make an awsome plan of attack to get this done. This engine should fire right up once everything is set to go. Wish me luck

Oh yeah, always soak the bolts of an engine that has been sitting with pb blaster or the like prior to removing the stuff. I too learned the hard way. At least you didn't break a spark plug in two.

Well it runs and runs very well. The car feels great and i finally got rid of that nasty ass exhaust leak I have had for a while.

Now for the bad news. In my haste i screwed up big time!! I was feeling a little tired and probobly should not have been working liek I was but did anyway. Somehow or another I hooked up the batt. backwards. Now this blew the fuseable link. I took the fusebox apart to mae sure everyhting was ok. the I replaced the fusable link. Now when I hook up the batt, the drivers side headlight lights up. The driver's highbeam also lights up but very dimly. the pass side headlight and high beam light up dimly. I have no interior lights or dash lights and the radio does not have power. Everything else seems to be in good working order. all the fuses are fine but the relays could be shot and I just don't know it. Can anyone lay something out for me to find a solution to this mess I have caused?

Tom( happy but pissed at myself at the same time)

Thnx for the swell wishes for luck with my electrical gremlins. Thnaks to john, I borrowed his fuse box to try and track down the problem. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with my headlights. Since the headlight switch can control the interior lights and the dash lights I have a good feeling that they are related. I just need to track down where the hell the problems are. Im gonna sleep now since i messed up big earlier because of the lack of rest I had.

Well all is well in the neighborhood. By means of deductiopn with a good fuse box I was able to find the problems. I had some terminals and connections either touching or burnt in the fuse box. So i took it apart a couple times and got everything lined up properly. Now all of my lights and whatnot work just fine. The engine runs great but I am still burning a whole lot of oil out of the exhaust pipes. I think this stuff will be burning off for the next week as there is a lot in there. A big thanks to John who was able to lend me his fusebox so I could do some trouble shooting. I am just so happy that this car is back to normal and for the better also.
