Performance mods?
Hi, My SVX currently has a Green high flow Air Filter and the ECU Tune Stage 1 kit on it . I plan to buy in the future a stebro exhaust, Small Car Shift Kit, and a light weight crank Pulley. Are there ANY other mods you can do to the SVX othe than real expensive mods such as a 5speed swap- my transmission is perfect right now, Gears, Nos, and turbo or supercharger that will make more horsepower? Also is it worth it to take out my intake resonator considering the fact that I have a High flow filter already installed? Will it help make a few more hp on top of my intake if removed? Thanks for your advice

Your trans is perfect you say...to keep it that way I say get a transmission cooler in there. You could also get koni struts and some drop springs. As well as some drilled/slotted rotors from raceconcepts.

One other major thing would be stainless steel brake hoses. They make a major difference.

Performance Mods
I urge you to heed the advice to improve brakes and handeling of the car, first. While I greatly appreciate the desire for more speed/power...unless you're going to race I'd focus initially on using what you've got. I'm biased. I live in a pretty heavily trafficked urban environment and rarely get to haul ass. But I really enjoy taking freeway on-ramps with a 35 mph sign at 70+. Nearly everyone on our freeways drives at least 70, often 80-85, IN ANY LANE, and rarely bother to signal. The better brakes and tires have already allowed me to avoid several idiots. Once tires, brakes and suspension are done, autocross the car or take a high performance driving course. Learning the handeling dynamics of your SVX in extreme situations pays off on the road. You'll know when you're ready for more power, you'll have a great time AND become a much better SVX driver.
As cool a GT the SVX is, it's not really suited to racing in stock form. Too heavy for starters. If you really want to really race, get a kart or a used Miata and go racing. Does that make sense? Having the driving skills to haul ass without the risk of killing someone, going to jail or summary execution is some of the most fun you can have, period. WGJ |

You can get a MSD Stacker Ignition system. I got one and it seemed to add a little power, but I have not had my car dyno'd
Also not really a performance mode but upgrade the ground and power wires from the alt to the battery and frame. poly front and rear sway bar bushings. I cut my intake resonator off at the first bent where it was all ready cut haft way. That way the air box is still sealed to the fender.

This is a new one to me. What does bypassing the coolant do? Thanks, Jonathan

Without this the intake air is cooler. The phenolic spacers help in a similar fashion (cooler air to the engine)
