Heater Controls?

I have always been curious if I can make my SVX blow hot are out of the vents, the owners manual is of no help. I'm just curious if when the car is in its "heating" mode, are my hands doomed to be cold? Just curious, if there is a certain button(s) I should be using on the climate control to acomplish my goal. Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer.

It's not possible. The computer is programmed to only blow hot air out of the floor and defrost vents.

The controls are at the drivers right foot - turn between vent and heat and you can watch the arm move to change airflow.

You could move it to the vent setting then disconnect the control arm to make it always go out vents no matter what you hit on the dash control.

Then that button should read "AUTO-or until you decide you know better than the computer"

I have to agree with him - one thing I miss about the little red wagon is I could crank the heat out the dash vents on a cold NY morning and blow all the hot air I wanted on my hands and face.

one of my main gripes about the SVX - the damn climate controls. i'm constantly toggling between AUTO and DEF - once my feet get sweaty, time to dry the eyes out.

the AC is beautiful, though. hard to believe its R-134a. freezes my ass off better than any car i've ever been in with freon.

I personally hate having hot air blowing on my face. Then again I rarely turn on the heat in my car, even when the temp drops around 0.

i don't like it blasting in my face, but a nice low fan setting to send warm air on my hands/upper body would be nice. i hate hot feet!

I tend to just blast the defrost, I get more hot air circulating around with it on high.

You could probably find a way to transplant the Climate Control system from a non-USDM SVX. I think that would solve your problem.

HEater controls

Do that self diagnostics thing on the climate control. I bet you have a stuck flapper. It'll probably be the servo you can get to in the passenger footwell.

Throw bod under dash, feet up on the passenger seat. head next to the center console. Initiate the self test on the climate control and see if that servo moves the control rods. I bet it doesn't.

When everything is working right, the airflow is nice and even. Mine tends to stick on FEET but sometimes FACE, FULL HOT.

As the temps climb above the pre-set, and the mix door can't move, the fan blows HARDER trying to cool the car, but the HEAT is still on so it just gets hotter. This only happens to me in the winter.

if set on AUTO, it should never blow out of the dash vents. it was designed not to, with the thinking that it would dry out your eyes (read that somewhere on here.) i've done the diagnostic on mine (just out of curiosity) and its OK. you may want to try it if it blows out of the upper vents on AUTO (although i would be happy about it )
