Geez, Nor. Cal. got some snow!

While on my 2-week trip to my home town in Northern California, we got hit fairly hard with some snowy/cold/windy conditions. Despite the fact that my SVX is only FWD, I drove my car around in ice and sleet and snow and rain. I slipped a wee bit here and there, but I must say... The manual function in 2nd gear works pretty nicely! I've never had a true opportunity to use it until now, but it definitely got me unstuck a few times when 1st was a little too rough.

I was, however, quite surprised at how many people there were that were driving above the speed limit in compacted, iced-over snow. I'm feeling pretty lucky to have not been hit (a shout goes out to you though, Chris... Sorry to hear the bad news).

I didn't realize the snow went down to CA, most of the west coast seems pretty snowy this week.

I'd wondered how a FWD SVX compared to an AWD in bad weather.
