Holy crap guys, I thought I got bad gas mileage!!! You mean to tell me that you get around 300 miles per tank??? I have seen 375 many times... I don't get it... I average about 24 mpg with the 5 speed... Then again I have found the best gas ever and it is all I use now... A gas station called ENMARK... They double filter thier fuel and it is suppose to be avaition grade... What ever they do, it works because I get more miles per tank with their gas... As soon as I fill up somewhere else I see an imediate drop in MPG...

I have done about 500 Miles on a tank before. How? Simple. No lights, No radios, No AC, Nothing electrical at all. That's how I brought my second SVX back home since alternator was not going too great at times.

I got around 29.5 mpg. Ask Doug if you don't believe me.

I believe you - after all, the best mileage I've gotten from my SVX is 31.4! That was on the way to AutoFest in 2001.

Talking 400+ per tankfull is abut right...

...on a cross-country trip via the freeway.

I got about 28.6 mpg (US) on a trip well over 5K miles this summer: all the way to St. Pete, FL, via Denver & Dayton, OH. One tank was over 30, as I recall: used mid-grade everywhere except for one tankfull of premium (car ran s#!TTy on the premium: wonder why?) and I got more miles per gallon when I didn't use the cruise control! Cruise control is a whole lot better vis'-a-vis' tickets, though...

The key is staying in overdrive and well over 75 !!!!

Cheers!

The altitude that you are at in Colorado would drop the power and increase the gas consumption.

Kenn
No Kenn we use the Research Octain Number and the US use the Motor octain Number. Ours are about 2 to 3 numbers higher.

Nik, it's not that I don't want to help you, or that I don't want other people to help you - it's just that not everybody knows about or remembers your situation. It's nothing short of a complete waste of time to try to figure anything out until you get those problems fixed.
regardless of my vehicles condition, im sure someone can benefit from a good answer whether or not its me. i know i have problems with my X in regards to things ive done to it, but if i ask now ill still have the knowledge later when i CAN put it to good use.

i don't know fuel economy because i've lived here most of my life, but i do know about power. every car i've driven has considerably more power at lower elevations.

ive looked at some reciepts and done some math and it seems ive averaged 17 mpg for the entire past year. what a waste. i will be going to napa to order me a tornado fuel saver very soon. if it makes any good results i will give everyone a heads up.

I have one, the PO put it in, my mileage still lacks something to be desired though...I've never actually kept track, next time i fill up I'll let you know what my MPG is.

so i was driving on E like i do sometimes, and lo-and-behold, the little "bowser" light comes on. what the hell...
i swore i had another 3 gallons left. so much for the pessimistic gas gauge. is that just a symptom or was i really about to run out of fuel? it didnt jump back up or anything like other people claim it does.

I'm pretty sure the light comes on when there is exactly 3 gallons left.

Nik, I am crying for your car.

weepage from seepage

get this. shortly after i saw that light i filled it up two gallons. gues how long it took for the light to come back on?

15 miles!!

im getting like 8 mpg!!!
woohoo yeeeaaaaahhhhh thats gotta be a record.

on the bright side it all gets used up. i never smell gas unless im behind a nasty looking truck.

im going to fill up another two gallons and see when next the light comes on.

good to know i have at least 3 gallons left. i can go another, oh say, 30 miles.
