Black Trim

Hey guys

Is there anyway to get the black window trim looking more like new other than replacing it? Mine's starting to show it's 8 years old I've tried a few things but nothing's really worked and I really don't think I have the time or money to replace the trim.Just one of those things of having an SVX daily Driver. Like to keep the heads a-turning Thanks for the help!

-Mike

Try using some back to black on it. That should work for you.

I recently used some Meguiar's (insert product name, which I've forgotten) and had some really nice results. Of course, my car has almost always been garaged, so the trim wasn't that bad to begin with.

I used it on the black plastic trim between the hood and the wipers and it looked fantastic! I also used it on all the window trim, all of the interior vinyl and plastic, etc...it was a time-consuming process, indeed...

I'll second this recommendation. It does an excellent job. Available (usually) at K Mart or Wal Mart.

i'll third it, but remember - use it in the shade on a COOL car! gets real streaky if you do, works fantastic otherwise.

Good point. Of course, since I've always done all of my exterior detailing work in the shade, I took this step for granted. Thanks. Alan.

i do mine in the shade, too (less sweaty ), but i used the B to B while the car was in the shade but kinda hot and it streaked all over. then you have to use twice as much stuff to get it looking nice.

Back to Black also works great on the front windshield cowl (the plastic and the metal), wiper arms, rubber weatherstrip, sunroof seal, and alot of stuff under the hood, too.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

actually the Back to Black removes all the oxidized crap. it really works great on black anodized stuff, but SVX's don't really have alot of that, except for maybe the base of the windshield. how long do you expect it to last? its not as good as a permanent wax or permanent glass cleaner, but its pretty good.
