Just throwing out ideas |

Hmmm might be a good idea. I'm toying with the cone idea. I personally like them for the sound difference alone. I'm also debating the RS scoop idea with my hood. I'm thinking of makind some type of heat shield (to block engine bay air) so that all the air from the stock inlet, and the scoop are forced towards the cone filter.
One of these years I'm actually going to take my fender well apart and see how it's laid out. I would like to work out a way of taking both sides and providing disk brake cooling. Hopefully with little modification, this can be done. This might help out the warped brakes scenario most people end up getting. Ryan

I might be interested in the filter as well, but I am not sure what you are actually referring to by MAF adapter. How old is the filter and have you cleaned it regularly?

see an earlier post by aredub in this thread for an answer to the question on the MAF

The air filter is about 10K miles old just cleaned. The MAF adapter bolts to the mass air flow meter which allows the use of acone filter which is included with the adapter

Cone in the fenderwell
Just last night I finished up my modification of putting a cone in the fenderwell....I'll let you see pictures when I get them...
All I did was use an adapter at the MAF sensor and then some PVC pipe to route it to the fenderwell. From there, I strapped in a K&N cone filter and vrooom..... It has better pickup than before and even sounds kinda cool. |

Are you using anything to keep that piece from moving around in there?
I'd think that it might rattle around in there? has it done that at all? |

also, was it a significant change is accel?
Did you just put it in there, or did you also cut out some of the plastic on the bottom (or anywhere else for that matter) |

How I did it.
Inside the fenderwell there is a big black box. That bolts to the engine bay compartment. I used the same hole to run a bolt through an bolt it up so it doesn't move inside the fenderwell. I used 3" pipe from the MAF sensor to the K&N filter.
Also, the "angled ridge" in the plastic on the bottom of the wheel well cover has a hole in it. I had done that last year. I'm not too worried about water getting in there. I'll try to get pic's ASAP. |

About the PVC, I've heard that PVC piping puts off some kind of fumes when heated???? On a discussion group I belonged to when I had my Nissan 240sx it was advised not to use the PVC method because of this. I can't say I have anything to confirm this though. |

I'm not sure what else he'd be able to use. without getting something custom fabricated

Hmm...I wonder if that 3" piece of chrome tubing I had is still around. We used to sell this stuff at one of my old jobs, they are like 3 feet long with a 3" diameter. We used some of it to make an intake on my friends Jetta....
Nothing a hacksaw couldn't take care of. Ryan
