Cellular Phone Connection

Cellular Phone Connection

Author: Subaru

NUMBER: 07-47-92

DATE: 04-20-92

APPLICABILITY
SVX

SUBJECT:
CELLULAR PHONE CONNECTION

SUBARU DOES NOT ENDORSE ANY PARTICULAR BRAND OF CELLULAR PHONE.

The following information is provided to assist in the installation of a cellular phone in an SVX vehicle. Actual installation may vary, depending on the configuration of the phone and the manufacturer's instructions.

The SVX is pre-wired with a clear 4 pin female connector. This connector is located in the trunk behind the right trim panel. Note: This connector is the only recommended power source for cellular phone installation. The B+ terminal must be used for the main power source. This circuit is protected by the number 10 fuse (15 amp.) located in the fuse box at the left front kick panel. This connector also provides a power source for the ignition and accessory side of the ignition switch. A ground is provided. See Figure 1.

SUGGESTED MOUNTING LOCATIONS FOR COMPONENTS

Transceiver Box

Mounting the transceiver box at the right side of the trunk, near the power source wire will minimize the possibility of adverse effects on the vehicle's electronic components such as the security system.

Antenna

An "on glass" or "roof top" type antenna must be used. Do not use a "trunk lid" type antenna.

Wiring Harness

The phone wire harness should be routed under the carpet from the trunk to the center console box.
