Re: Its Ricetastic!

This thread inspired me, I took a couple of shots of a car in the parking lot at work...

a Saturn SW1 (base model saturn wagon) that is dinged and dented, and rusty, with hubcaps...

And the windshield visor tint says "Supercharged"

I had to take a pic... I'll pull it off of my phone and post it here when I get a chance...

Re: Its Ricetastic!

It's not the best case of rice in my neighborhood, but will suffice.

Re: Its Ricetastic!

Does this count as rice? Its a mod that I like even though all it does is add weight and gives the car worse arodynamics.

Shouldn't it be "racey" instead? Because as far as I know, ricey comes from rice.
To me rice began with high school kids with:

A. little or no mechanical aptitude,
B. a lack of money for real go fast parts
C. a total lack of common sense
D. all of the above.

So they do what they can to make the car look and sound fast, then their friends try to one up them. If it's made of plastic, comes with decals and attaches with double sided tape or screws it's fair game... I think this mentality goes back to when you are little, When I was 7 I just KNEW my new tennis shoes were faster than my old ones. When you get a bit older its not your shoes that get you around, its your car. A friend in high school was positive his car was faster if the air cleaner cover was on upside down. After all louder is always faster.

Fast forward to today and there is an entire industry created to take their money. Some of it well done, most of it ricey.

ricey
putting giant wings on front wheel drive cars.

Assuming the could actually go fast enough to get some downforce and thats a big assumption they would find that steering, like many things in life gets taken for granted. You don't miss it till it's gone.

side skirts so low they give ants head trauma

looks awesome but if you sit in the car you'll ruin them. Ricer guy A. "Wow that looks great! lets take it out cruising." Ricer guy B " OK, help me take them off so we can get out of the driveway."

giant exhaust tips that make the car sound like a gas weed trimmer.

Hearing those always reminds me to mow my yard. Nothing cracks me up more than being next to one of those little buzzbombs at a light and just DESTROYING them when the light turns green... In my 1997 buick park avenue.

That being said:
one thing that is NEVER ricey are stripes. Stripes are magic and improve everything.
"Thats a nice bar b que... but it would cook those burgers WAY faster if it had stripes."

Re: Its Ricetastic!

i believe if you own a car, you have the right to modify it as you please.

with that being said, i also have the right to laugh at it and call it ricey if i chooses.
