Rumble, Rumble.....Screech !

Tonight SUBYDOO goes in for service. The rear wheel bearings will be replaced under warranty. I sure hope they don't give me a Pontiac GP again as a loaner car. It's a piece of junk.

Last week I had warrantee work done on the 2.5L engine in my 97 Outback. The car has 65000 miles on it and had oil leaks around the oil pump, separator plate, head gaslets also replaced.
I have $100 deductible on the Suby GOLD extended warrantee. Thay took the engine/tranny out of the car as one assembly for this work. While it was out I had them change the timing belt (on me) . I figured it's good insurance. They charged me $79.95 for the T-belt plus 6% PA tax. They did not charge me anything for labor. Is $79.95 a good, bad or average price? Does anyone know?

Not a bad dealership price, I think the last one I bought for one of my Legacys was about $45 at NAPA....but it wasn't the factory Subaru belt, but I'm OK with that

I'm so cheap

Red face

man I feel jipped, I walked out of the subie dealer with a timing belt and front rear breaks for a grand tot of 286. NO THATS NOT INSTALLED, I could not find these items anywhere that I went, I should have shopped around more but I hate shopping, oh well I will do all the work myself so it's not all a BUST!! I guarantee I will never go there again.

As a loaner car they gave me a Nissan Sentra with about 22 K miles on it. The fit and finish and plastic interior is much better than the Pontiac GP they gave me last week. However, the ride is jiggly and the 4 cyl. engine seems rough and to be straining over 65 mph. The 2.5 L, 4 cyl. engine in our Outback is so much smoother. It was finally raining cats & dogs this morn. The Sentra is ok thru the puddles. I figure that it costs about $12-15K. For $9-12k you can get a preety good, late model, low milage SVX.

Speaking of which, last night, Bobby Rafferty showed me a 96 LSi that he just got into his dealership. It has 55k miles on it is a burgundy/beige LSi (like my 97) & has some minor dings on the doors. The car has yet to go through the shop. It looked pretty clean. He said he would ask about $10-11k for it. He asked if I wanted it. Now what would I do with another SVX? Though the idea of having one SVX of each model year (92-97) is intriguing.
It would make one interesting collection. If anyone is interested the dealership is Bob Rafferty Subaru in Newtown Square, PA.
