Hi All,

About Genetics --

Most of my mom's side dies of cancer.
On my dead's side they die of heart attacks.
Having seen and lived with both diseases up close & personal, I'll take heart attack any day of the week and twice on weekends.

Ditto that from me too Larry. My Dad has five brothers. One died a few years ago from lung cancer (that's what we were told anyway), one just told us a few months ago that he's known about his leukemia for six years now and is in his last few months. A month or so after his news another of the brothers announced his leukemia. That's three out of six so far. One of the docs said that it's hereditary leukemia (?) and typically only affects the male members of a family.

When I told my doctor about it his reply was "Makes you wonder why you're counting your cholesterol, huh?" Heckuva bedside manner...

Heredity plays a huge part. My mother's side of the family is incredibly long-lived, but my dad's side isn't.
So where does that put me? About in the middle I suppose.
And I'm one to drive, not walk.
I also drink too much and eat all the wrong foods.
Guess I'm doomed....

Beav, I'm so happy that your test came back good. Let's talk soon, okay?

I've often pondered the results of finding a "cure" for every currently known disease, and the resulting 120 year olds wandering around aimlessly with "stabilized" Altheimers. I can see it now - "Try new Golden Years Viagra - It keeps you up all night, but you won't know why".

Oy! Feelin' down - Ron.

My maternal grandmother was in her 90s the last time I saw her. She had one piece of advice for me: "Don't grow to be really old - it sucks!" My great grandfather was 96 and in the field putting up hay when he decided to go to the house, sit on the porch and call it quits. Some have it better than others. I still love the part in Grumpy Old Men when Ossie Davis had passed away. I can't remember who asked who (Matthau or Lemmon), but it went "How'd he die?"
He went in his sleep.
Lucky bastard!"

Sex is hereditary, if your parents didn't do it, the odds are that you won't either.

Beav, one of the greatest "it's all over" scenes was in the underrated (my opinion) film of 1970 - "Little Big Man". Dustin Hoffman & Chief Dan George climb the mountain "for to die". It's a classic. Rent it!

Ron.

You nailed the hit right on the head, Andy.
