black interior??

i was looking in a 1992 svx brochure i have from a subaru dealer and noticed the interior was black. was this an actual interior color or did they change it between the brochure and production? the car was a left hand drive.

As far as I know the only black interior svx parts are left hand drive steering wheels and shift handles.

this was undoubtedly black steering wheel, dash, and 2 tone black with grey center seats ... with blue lights on all the guages except the stereo, and grey sueded parts... the "woodgrain" was also a flat black. it didnt look black , it was black

it gave the car an almost sophisticated elegant look and it was definately a left hand drive.

ill try to scan it

its really cool... i just never heard of it in a production car

leather interior

As far as I know all of the european cars with LHD had a complete black leather interior, suede and woodgrain dash. There were no options possible.

They were also equipped with adjustible headlights (switch on the console) and a different front- and taillight scheme

To get sales better (specially the colorscheme) Subaru Germany ordered white cars and the customers could choose their own colour.

Hello Rinus, and welcome to the Network. I think we may only have two listed Dutch members, nice to have you.

What car have you got? Can you post some pictures?

The English [Euro] cars look blacker inside than Japanese cars, and have different interiors also than the US cars. In the US they seem happier with lighter colour interiors.

Having had both Japanese and English SVXs the principal difference is the carpets. The JDM carpet has a thicker and higher quality [IMO] pile than that on the UK cars.

The UK carpet pile is not so deep, and you can see from the shine it is totally
synthetic.

The Japanese carpet is deeper and more luxurious and does not have the same synthetic shine, it has a more matt finish. Being a deeper pile it does suffer a bit from the mark where the passenger seat goes forward on the centre tunnel.

For colour difference, the UK carpet is totally and absolutely black, no question.

The Japanese carpet looks black in most circumstances, certainly from inside the car. If you open the door and let the sun shine in on the carpet, you will notice it actually has a hint of the purple hue to match the ecsaine, a sort of blackberry I would call it. Definitely not deep black.

The seats, panels and dash in both models are black if you like, but again in direct sunlight you could call them very dark grey. It's a matter of colour perception.

Joe

I have seen a German interior leather that was black. It was just too expensive to ship to the US. But I thought it was really nice.
