I realize, at this point, it does me no good to say I'm jealous.

I was really unsure about whether the would get it done. Somewhat pricy $4,100 + install.

Yikes! That's what they were trying to rape me for, here in Evansville! 4,600.00. You could've gone to Indy and had it done for around 2,300.00, complete. When I did my research, after getting my outrageous quote, the most expensive I'd seen anyone be charged was 3,000.00 and that was "pre core allowance" which is, as I understand, around 1,200.00. Even svxit was quoted 2,700.00 in Hawaii! And, yes, I'm comparing apples to apples, since these were all quotes from Subaru Dealerships. Holy guacamole! What's the world coming to.

Ummm... Warranty...

Aredub,

He had it covered under warranty. I'm not at all surprised that the dealer tried to (and probably succeeded in) raping the warranty company.

Now if it wasn't covered under any warranty, then I'd be concerned...

(Hi! My name is Ben Dover, and I'm the service manager at XYZ Subaru. Customer has a bad tranny, and it'll cost $4100 to replace. OK? Great then. Hangs up phone, then snickers)

. . . then, calls the service tech, C. Howett Fields, to pull the car into his bay.

It's all about warranty! Had Subaru not covered the tranny...I probably would have unloaded the car. She's "good to go" at least in the short term!
