What is/was this car?

This pulled into the last car show I attended. I don't know what it is or what it was converted from.

Significant Technical Input
Looks like a Sterling (not the Anglo-Saxon Acura junk) kit car. The entire canopy lifts up to allow ingress/egress. Still some unfinished kits available, along with the normal butchered and cobbled 'completed' ones. Check out sites like kitcar.com or ebaymotors 'other' categories.

the rear has a maserati/corvette feeling, maybe the taillights are maserati and the rest is from a corvette (C3 ?) the front is definitely lambo and the front glass look... nice replica.

The Sterlings were still being manufactured as of 2004. They also have a Targa top option which lets you replace the entire lift-off canopy with a removable roof to give you a convertible.

Check here: http://www.kitcar.com/sterling/home.html

There is also a 2004 Sterling for same in NJ. Asking $9,900. http://www.collectorcartraderonline.....html?81103461

^^^ Count your blessings.

When the Sterling first came out there was a lot of hoopla in the car mags. Apparently they had better marketing than financing and they never got to where they originally said they were going. I can just imagine what kind of disaster one would have with sealing that canopy, on a kit car...

When I was 19 or so I had thoughts of either a sterling, bricklin, or montage...but lately I've set my sights (dreams) a little higher.
